I think I just figured out why find knowledge base stress level is so high. Listening to Ryan holiday interview on London real yesterday. There is so much new information coming at me via podcasts and books that it is fast becoming overwhelming how many subject matter I am being exposed to. At what point do I say I am saturated?
Is my goal to be a subject matter expert, which I think is that what I want to drive for? And if that is the case, how do I maintain areas of focus and not find myself running down tangential rabbit hole? I told DLM yesterday flat out that I have no desire to learn about how the electronic tolling system works. That is a prime example of me cutting off a new rabbit hole. How do I do that effectively in other subject matters but not miss out on learning about other things?
I need to be able to read and enjoy the process of reading, to enjoy the stories, and not to be driven by feeling as if I need to learn a lesson from every page. I can feel myself reading as if it’s the search for more bullet points for some future book. Bad idea. I need to be able to not feel like reading is a job or a task, just read….
I am at this point totally convinced that the human mind cannot think this fast. It cannot digest the amount of data that current computer systems and data management systems can throw at it.
Here’s what I want to know: Is my aging brain slowing down and or losing capacity or is the pace of the invoice advancing at a more rapid rate and I can absorb? And where do I go to find the answer to that question? Or is it that I have my irons in too many fires, and I am distracting myself with my own volume…?
