Citizen Corp Suggested Training

In order to provide this support to the local community, members of the Council and Corps programs should take the following training:

Training for ALL program staff and volunteers:

  • IS-700 – National Incident Management System (classroom setting preferred)
  • IS-100 – Incident Command System (classroom setting preferred)
  • IS-22 – Are You Ready? An in-depth guide to citizen preparedness

In addition to the above training – training for ALL program Leadership:

  • IS-200 – ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (classroom setting preferred)
  • IS-800B – National Response Framework (classroom setting preferred)
  • Principles of Emergency Management – IEMA classroom setting preferred
  • IEMA Media Relations (only offered in a classroom setting)

Additional training recommended by position level:

ALL Program Members:

  • IS-7 – A Citizens Guide to Disaster Assistance
  • IS-317 – Community Emergency Response Training (classroom setting preferred)
  • IS-288 – The Role of Voluntary Agencies in Emergency Management

ALL Program Leadership:

  • IS-240 – Leadership and Influence
  • IS-241 – Decision Making and Problem Solving
  • IS-242 – Effective Communication
  • IS-244 – Developing and Managing Volunteers
