Fixing things yourself is becoming lost craft. It seems like, more and more, society is becoming apt to dispose and replace, as opposed to repair and maintain.
I, for one, will ALWAYS try to tackle a repair on my own. I’ve written about it before: I’m lucky to have been raised by a dad who worked around the house. But he will tell you (as he’s told me…) that there were some jobs that he’d farm out to others.
For me, other than HVAC and some plumbing, I’m a brave apprentice who will try just about any home repair.
Today, I walked-the-walk.
I have an awesome tool kit.
I’m not afraid.
And, most importantly, I have YouTube!!
The gasket in my mower was shot. I’ve had oil spilling out onto the mower deck.
I can handle this, right…???!!!
Many thanks to Individualized Repair and Jack of All Trades for posting the videos that gave me the confidence to try making the repair:
